What Do You Think Of The New Facebook Fanpage Changes?

Just when we were getting used to the Facebook Page tabs, links, FBML and other marketing options on our business pages, Facebook decided to make more changes. On March 10 2011, Facebook upgraded everyone’s Facebook pages with new features leaving some of the old features behind for good while adding new features and upgrades.
Many people upgraded earlier than the March 10th deadline but like many changes that occur on Facebook, there are some buggie issues that take place and there still are.
In this blog post, I have attempted to update you with some of the changes. There are more that have taken place which I will go into in a future post. For now, it is important to see some of these changes to help you move forward in your business and on Facebook.
- Tabs are now Navigation Links
- Below you will see the navagation link locations under your logo that have replaced the tabs.
- Now the photos are the same as the profile photos where you see 5 of your most recent photos or graphics. In your page, you are not able to edit the photos. You can only do that on your profile page.
- The new Admin view – Did you know that Admins see their page differently than the other viewers?
- The new pages show posts randomly now, not in date order
- The edit link has been moved and there are changes when you click “Edit Info”
- After you click the “Edit” Info link, this is what you will see. Notice on the left side, there is a new link called “Your Settings” It is here where you can uncheck the comment option and your email notifications.
- One change that has upset a lot of people is that fan page posts are not in date order anymore. Instead they are based on the interactions and recent comments from your fans. It can be very frustrating so make sure you read the comments and check the dates.
- You can now toggle between your Facebook Fanpage and your Facebook profile page. Let’s take a look at what it looks like below.
From my Facebook Fanpage, I clicked on the link where you see the red arrow that reads “Use Facebook as Cindy Murphy, which is my fanpage.
After I switched my fanpage to my profile, I clicked profile below and noticed that my fanpage was now my profile. See the red arrow:
Just for testing purposes, I clicked back to my profile, which is Cindy Portz Murphy.
Now I am back to my profile at Cindy Portz Murphy
Are we connected on Facebook? If not, come say hello to me on my fanpage and on my profile. Please introduce yourself by leaving me a message.
Ok, so these are just a few of the many changes. What pros and cons can you share with the readers when you were upgraded to the new Facebook updates?
Why not comment below and share your tips and comments.
Until next time,
Here’s to your success,
Cindy

Cindy:
Thank you for latest update on Facebook Fan Pages. It is confusing enough going through one set of changes and then Facebook throws us with another one. By seeing your snapshots it makes it so much easier to comprehend. The one area that Facebook should leave alone was “people like this” which only provides a number rather than pictures of all the likers. What’s up with that? Now, we are not able to friend them. Groups are becoming more appealing. At least, I can see all the members.

I upgraded as soon as they offered the option (I figured since I’d have to, I might as well start getting used to it). And I’m still getting used to it! But I do like some of the features. After a bit of adjustment I really like the photo bar options.
Thanks for the overview & tips!

Thanks for sharing your insights Cindy. I upgraded straight away and actually love the new features they have, though I am still getting used to them. Initially I didnt like the random posts but thankfully they have gone back to chronological based wall posts.
I like the options in settings and especially like I can switch between my facebook page and my personal profile.
The screenshots are a great idea in your article – makes it so much easier to follow.

Cindy,
Great explanation of the new Fan Page changes. I like most of the changes and love the new look. The only downfall that I’m having a hard time adjusting to is the date order no longer. BUT I’m sure in time I will get the hang of it.

Thanks Cindy for taking the time in making the images to show these changes. It is easier for everyone when you can actually see what has changed.
I like all the changes now that I am use to them. So I am hoping that Facebook doesn’t change again any time soon!
There are some more cool features that Facebook offers like linking your Employment to your Fan Page. Also you can do a lot more with your ‘lists’.
I suppose just like any other change, it can be good or it can be a pain, but for sure you have to make the change and keep moving forward. Really enjoyed your post and the information you shared.

Hi Lynn,
I agree with you that we have to move forward with change. With Facebook, we have no choice but to move forward because they are always changing. But I like most of the new features.
Thank you for sharing another feature about linking your employment to your fanpage. That’s an awesome upgrade and one that I hope folks will take advantage of.
Glad you stopped by.

Hi Leona,
Thanks for your comments. I wanted to let you know that as the Admin of your page, you can see the posts in order.
Other than that, I hope you enjoy the changes. Like Lynn said, we have to adjust because the changes are going to come either way.

Hi Maureen,
So glad you shared your comments here about the Facebook changes. Like you, I am liking the fact that we can now switch from profile to pages, although I am still partial to my profile for now. Will do more testing in the near future.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Michelle,
Like you I am still adjusting but I do like the new features. Its just getting used to all the changes. Everytime I perfect something on Facebook, it changes again.
Good thing we are flexible, huh?
Have a wonderful day,
Cindy

Hi Jane,
I agree with you about the groups. I am actually going to start a new group for babyboomers soon.
Glad you liked the screen shots too. I find it easier to follow instruction from a visual opportunity.
Have a wonderful day,
Cindy
